Requires the employer to develop and implement a written respiratory protection program with required worksite-specific procedures and elements for required respirator use. The program shall include, but is not limited to the following: procedures for selecting respirators for use in the workplace; medical evaluations of employees required to use respirators; procedures and schedules for cleaning, disinfecting, storing, inspecting, repairing, discarding, and otherwise maintaining respirators; training of employees in the respiratory hazards to which they are potentially exposed during routine and emergency situations; and training of employees in the proper use of respirators, including putting on and removing them, any limitations on their use, and their maintenance.
Requires employers to develop, implement, and maintain a written hazard communication program, which outlines the dangers of the chemicals employees may come in contact with, labels and other forms of warning on the chemicals, and material safety data sheets for each chemical used. Information and training may be designed to cover categories of hazards (e.g., flammability, carcinogenicity) or specific chemicals.
